Sherri C. Oberg, a co-founder of Acusphere, has served as our President and Chief Executive Officer and one of our directors since our inception in 1993. Prior to joining Acusphere, Ms. Oberg was President and Chief Executive Officer of Neomorphics, Inc., a venture capital backed company focused on tissue engineering, from 1991 to 1992. Prior to joining Neomorphics, she was a venture capitalist at Aegis Venture Funds from 1988 to 1991, and at Inco Venture Capital Management from 1986 to 1988. Ms. Oberg is a member of the Board of Overseers of The Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College. Ms. Oberg holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration.

Howard Bernstein, M.D., Ph.D.
Executive Vice President, Research and Development

Howard Bernstein, M.D., Ph.D., serves as our Executive Vice President, Research and Development. Dr. Bernstein, who has overseen the development of Acusphere's proprietary microsphere technology, has been head of the Company's research and development efforts since 1994 which includes Process Development and Formulations, Intellectual Property, Quality Systems, Research Program Management, Validation and Manufacturing and Materials Management. Dr. Bernstein holds an M.D. from Harvard Medical School and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has more than 20 years of experience in drug delivery systems and microparticle development. Prior to joining Acusphere, he was Vice President Pharmaceutical Development at Alkermes, Inc., and one of the inventors of their ProLease technology. He is the inventor on 42 issued U.S. patents and the author of 28 publications in the field.

Lawrence A. Gyenes has served as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary since October 2007 and as Treasurer since March 2008. From March 2006 to September 2007, Mr. Gyenes provided independent healthcare financial consulting services primarily to investment management firms. From March 2007 to July 2007, Mr. Gyenes served as Chief Financial Officer of Zila, Inc. From August 2004 to October 2005, Mr. Gyenes was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Savient Pharmaceuticals, Inc. From July 2001 to July 2004, Mr. Gyenes was Chief Financial Officer of privately held Reliant Pharmaceuticals, Inc. From January 2001 to June 2001, Mr. Gyenes consulted on the divestiture of the DuPont Pharmaceuticals Company. Previously, Mr. Gyenes served as Chief Financial Officer of Rand McNally & Co., CompuServe Corporation and Helene Curtis, Inc. Mr. Gyenes spent 15 years in progressively more responsible positions with G. D. Searle & Co. completing his career there as Corporate Vice President, Finance responsible for the company's global finance and information technology functions. Mr. Gyenes has a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Dennis Bucceri
Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs

Dennis Bucceri, has served as Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs since January 2007. Mr. Bucceri comes to Acusphere from Genzyme Corporation where he was Vice President in charge of Regulatory Affairs for the Therapeutics Group from 2000-2006. Prior to Genzyme, Mr. Bucceri served at Hoechst-Roussel for 20 years in roles of increasing responsibility including Vice President, Regulatory Affairs. He subsequently held senior-level regulatory roles at Serono Laboratories and Astra, USA. Mr. Bucceri began his career as a Commissioned Officer at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Mr. Bucceri holds a B.S. in Pharmacy from Fordham University school of Pharmacy and is a registered pharmacist.

Patrick Gallagher
Senior Vice President of Business Development

Patrick Gallagher, has served as Senior Vice President of Business Development since May 2007. Patrick has more than 25 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales, marketing and business development. Prior to joining Acusphere, he was Vice President, Corporate Business Development at Mylan Laboratories. He has also held senior level Business Development roles at Bristol-Myers Squibb and Johnson & Johnson. Throughout his career he has closed transactions totaling some $800 million and covering a wide variety of structures including in-licensing and out-licensing of product rights, co-promotion agreements, in-licensing of drug delivery technology, manufacturing supply agreements, joint ventures, divestitures and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Gallagher received a B.S. from LaSalle University and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Senior Vice President, Operations

Michael R. Slater, has served as our Senior Vice President, Operations since 2001. Prior to joining Acusphere, Mr. Slater served as Vice President of Operations from 1999 to 2001, and as Vice President of Quality Systems and Regulatory Affairs from 1998 to 1999 at Anika Therapeutics, Inc. Mr. Slater served as an independent consultant to the biopharmaceutical industry from 1996 to 1998, as Executive Vice President, Development Operations for ImmuLogic Pharmaceutical Corporation from 1995 to 1996, as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at Biogen, Inc. from 1985 to 1995, as Director of Corporate Regulatory Affairs from 1983 to 1985 at Biogen S.A. and in various positions including Senior Manager, Medical Services from 1971 to 1983 at Hoechst Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Slater holds a B.Sc. in Information Science from the Metropolitan University of Leeds, England.

Richard Walovitch, Ph.D, has served as our Senior Vice President, Clinical Research since 2005 and as Vice President, Clinical Research since 1997. Prior to joining Acusphere, Dr. Walovitch was Vice President of Pre clinical and Clinical Research at Epix Medical Inc. (formerly Metasyn) from 1993 to 1997 and the International Project Clinician at DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Company from 1988 to 1993. Dr. Walovitch holds a B.S. in Biology and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Illinois.

Fred Alholm

Fred Alholm, has served as our Vice President, Finance since September 2005. Prior to Acusphere, Mr. Ahlholm served most recently as Vice President, Finance for Upromise, where he was employed from 2004 to 2005, and also as Vice President, Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer for e-StudioLive, Inc. from 2001 to 2004. Mr. Ahlholm has also held senior financial roles with operating divisions of Invacare and Textron. Mr. Ahlholm was employed by the accounting firm of Ernst & Young LLP, is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame.

Donald Chickering
Vice President, Technical Operations, Process Development & Formulations

Donald Chickering has been responsible for process development and formulations of Acusphere's product candidates since 1997, most recently served as Acusphere's Senior Director of Process Development and Formulations, which included leading the scale-up of Acusphere's manufacturing processes from development stage through to commercial stage. Dr. Chickering oversees all activities related to engineering, process development and formulations, manufacturing and validation. Prior to joining Acusphere, he was a project leader of therapeutic drug delivery systems for Sulzer Carbomedics. Dr. Chickering holds a Ph.D. in Medical Science from Brown University and received a Bachelors of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Dr. Chickering has contributed in diverse ways to the fields of microparticles and drug delivery and is the inventor in over 25 issued U.S. patents and several pending U.S. patents.
